At Barnegat Financial, protecting and growing our client’s assets is our number one priority. The Barnegat investment philosophy is to use world class, tactical asset managers to create the best possible portfolios for each client depending on that client’s risk appetite and current financial situation. We use a “top down” approach along with fundamental analysis to select and monitor our asset managers. Using a top down approach requires that our managers are actively monitoring the economy and stock market from feet, and will adjust their portfolios accordingly. We do not rely on a “buy and hold strategy” at Barnegat, due to our belief that active, tactical management outperforms in most economic environments. We use a combination of active asset managers, alternative investments and low correlation asset management to try and protect assets from down markets, while trying to get as much of the upside in an up market as we feel comfortable Pete Hopkins started Barnegat Financial in 2008 to be able to help protect and grow his client’s assets using his active management methodology. Pete started his career as a financial analyst at Bank One in the early 1990’s and had various roles in the Corporate Finance department before leaving Bank One in to start in the Financial Advisory business. After seven years at Legg Mason Wood Walker, Inc. as a financial advisor, Pete started with LPL Financial, the largest independent brokerage in the United States, in 2003. Shortly thereafter Barnegat Financial was formed. Pete has a BBA in Finance from Temple University in Philadelphia, and an MBA from The Ohio State University. He enjoys coaching soccer and playing golf in his free time. Pete lives in Dublin, Ohio with his wife Jodi, and his three sons Cullen, Jack and Brendan.
