Bay Area Dragons

The Bay Area Dragons is a new professional basketball club seeded by East Asia Super League (EASL) to represent Greater China in EASL games and to travel to play other top teams around the world. The Dragons are dedicated to being the leading professional basketball team in the Greater China region and to showcasing Chinese basketball to the world. The roster is a combination of top free agents from Mainland China and Hong Kong SAR, as well as NBA-level foreign import players. For EASL games, the club will also have one Asian import, making up a dynamic roster. The club is led by legendary head coach Brian Goorjian, the Olympic medal-winning coach of the Australian men's national team (Tokyo 2020, bronze) and a six-time Australian National Basketball League champion. In the Dragons’ first season, 2022-23, they played in the Philippine Basketball Association Commissioner’s Cup, the first guest club in the Filipino league in two decades. They will enter the competition again in 2023-24. The PBA recognizes that EASL is striving to elevate the level of basketball in the East Asia region and has expressed its strong support by allowing the Dragons to enter their league. Off the court, the Dragons are aiming to be a social media powerhouse. Our content will provide unique, 24/7 access to the team and showcase what happens behind the scenes at a top professional Asian basketball club like never before.
