When I started in this industry as an employee as time went on I started to become frustrated with and noticed a going trend amongst everybody I talked too in the industry, comfort and health issues that everyone says just simply can't be solved or chalked up to "this is just how these old homes are". Such as that second floor or bonus room that won't heat or cool properly, your thermostat reading 72 degrees in the summer but it still feels incredibly clammy in the home, ice dams causing roof damage, spots of moisture damage on the ceiling below the attic, excessive dust and/or mold causing sinus problems, the home feeling drafty no matter how high you set the thermostat for heating, and the list goes on. As an HVAC professional we are supposed to be the ones to bring comfort, health, and safety to your home using our equipment (the 15-20 year investment that you purchase from us) right? At least that's what's advertised on a lot of contractors' websites. I've found that the answer to these problems isn't always as simple as installing that brand new flashy UV light or that 99% efficient furnace, but is a bit more involved. Right-sizing the equipment is critically important when it comes to delivering true comfort in your home.
