Be Head Strong

In 2003, JR Waisner and Rob Mullin met at a brain tumor event in Kansas City. They quickly became close friends and bonded over their common enemy: brain cancer. JR was nearing the end of his fight as Rob was just starting his. Jennifer, JR’s wife, and Gail, Rob’s wife, knew the importance of financial security during this time and how devastating brain cancer can be to so many families. So many everyday costs become monumental when a loved one is faced with disability, losing a job, having to cut back on hours or tending to a family member in need. In JR’s final months he made one thing clear: he wanted an organization to be started that could assist families in need. Since that time in 2003, Be Head Strong has been there for medical co-pays, grocery store gift cards, assistance with rent/mortgage payments, car payments, end-of-life arrangements, and much more. We are now in our 20th year serving our community. While JR and Rob have both passed away, their legacy lives on. Each time Be Head Strong writes a check or provides a family with assistance, it is thanks to these two men that this vision was created. With your help, we can continue assisting brain tumor patients and caregivers in the Kansas City community for another twenty years.
