Bears In Mind

Bears in Mind uses its knowledge, expertise, and financial resources to protect bears and their natural habitats in the wild, as well as to improve the welfare of bears in captivity. In collaboration with governments, local organizations, and universities, Bears in Mind develops and supports projects focused on nature conservation, animal welfare, education, and public awareness. Worldwide, Bears in Mind initiates and supports projects aimed at protecting wild bear populations and helping captive bears in need. One of its most well-known initiatives is the Bear Forest at Ouwehands Zoo in the Netherlands — a unique sanctuary for abused and traumatized bears. Together with the STIFTUNG für BÄREN, Bears in Mind also established BearAlert.org. Bear Alert was created to monitor and improve the welfare of bears living in poor conditions — by identifying cases, raising awareness, and supporting concrete actions for change. Bears in Mind’s work is built on three pillars-Education & Awareness -Improving Bear Welfare -Nature Conservation By protecting the habitats of bears — including the brown bear, sloth bear, spectacled bear, sun bear, Asiatic black bear, and American black bear — Bears in Mind also contributes to the protection of countless other species that share these same environments.
