Martin Bedford was born in the medieval village of Titchfield, Hampshire, in the U.K, The village where Shakespeare wrote his sonnets and where tradition has it that the first performance of Romeo and Juliet took place in the village 13th century Tythe Barn. The Earl of Southampton, Shakespeare’s benefactor and friend is buried in a magnificent marble tomb in the Norman/Saxon village church where Martin was a choir boy and bell ringer for many years in his youth. The Earl lived in Titchfield at “Place House” the original 11th century Cistercian monastery.
