THE NAME According to the U.S Department of Energy 2008 Buildings Energy Data Book, buildings account for about 39% of the annual energy consumption in the United States. This translates into billions of dollars in energy cost expenditure. Consequently, even a small amount of savings would generate a lot of funds that could be used for other beneficial purposes. Apart from offering opportunities to save money, efficient buildings also help in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. BEED, is an acronym for Building Energy Efficiency Design. We have chosen this name to emphasize that we really care about building energy efficiency.
