BEEJ is a Sanskrit word which when literally translated means “seed”. A metaphor for the origin of all creation; it is the point from where all life originates. For us BEEJ symbolizes respect for LIFE in its purest form and is at the core of everything we do. BEEJ was born from a growing awareness of how ‘Fast-Fashion’ and non-discriminate use of materials that are harmful to the environment are hurting our planet and destroying it at an alarmingly rapid pace. We wanted to create a brand that’s rooted in environmental and social sustainability and is yet fashionable. While we scout the world to source sustainable material that are made from natural resources with little or no use of toxic material, a lot of our materials are sourced locally from across the Indian sub-continent which makes us very proud. Sustainability is at the very core of how we approach our business, products and customers and all we do: Choice of Materials: o Made from natural resources that are environmentally friendly, little or no use of toxic chemicals o Using recycled/ upcycled material o High Quality of material and workmanship to ensure they last Production Process: With efficient and effective use of resources. Minimal wastage of water. Carbon emissions etc. Socio-economic sustainability: ethical and fair work environment and pay for work for people involved in creating our products Encouraging Sustainable Consumption: o At BEEJ we do not hold an inventory of manufactured goods. Every order is on demand, where we spend time to understand what you want and ‘co-create’ a design you will love and cherish. o Our ‘on-demand’ approach helps in curbing overproduction and minimizing waste.
