A non-profit which provides financial assistance to restaurant workers in need due to unexpected illness or injury. In Elizabeth Bookholz didn’t feel well and left work early at The Witches Brew on Derby Street in Salem, MA. The doctors discovered she had a serious and rare disease, and she was immediately hospitalized. Due to the unexpected costs of her medical treatment, her friends and colleagues planned a fundraiser to try and raise money for her bills while she couldn’t work. Tragically, Elizabeth passed away the night the fundraiser was being held. A group of people, including the late Jennifer Reardon of Salem, decided to create the non-profit “Elizabeth Bookholz Memorial Fund” in her memory with the money raised that evening and from any subsequent fundraisers. The BEHIND YOU! Elizabeth Bookholz Memorial Fund was created to support Front-of-House and Back-of-House employees of independently-owned or chef-owned restaurants in Salem MA, when they have a medical hardship and are unable to work for at least four (4) weeks. Any qualified individual can apply by filling out this application
