PentaDOPA, the better choice for L-DOPA s.c. infusion therapy in M. Parkinson Berlirem GmbH offers worldwide rights for development and licensing: PentaDOPA is a newly synthesized, cleavable L-DOPA ester with extremely high water solubility for s.c. application via minipumps. A patent on pentaDOPA has been granted recently in the EU, US patent is under assessment. We have shown in human volunteers that a 24h s.c. pump application of 460 mg L-DOPA equivalents (+ oral benserazide and opicapone) generates therapeutically effective L-DOPA plasma levels (around ng/ml). No relevant skin side effects were observed. The high solubility allows higher doses and small infusion volumes (patch pump).
