Beyond Classrooms-Kingston

Beyond Classrooms Kingston is a non-for-profit organization that moves teachers and their students out of classrooms for a full week into galleries, museums and community spaces. This program gives students the opportunity to have fun while putting their minds to the test - enhancing their literacy, criterial thinking and problem solving skills in an authentic environment. Unlike a field trip, the mission is to slow down learning and give students a chance to absorb the experience by reflecting on their discoveries through journalling and sketching. The week long excursion consists of presentations by specialists, hands-on activities and exploring artifacts - stimulating curiosity, and encouraging further investigation.
