Bfriends Charity

Bfriends Friends of Birmingham Children’s Trust charity was officially established through the charity commission on the 29th November 2021 as an independent charity developed and designed by children in care and care leavers with city partners and Birmingham Children’s Trust. Bfriends works closely in partnership with Birmingham Children’s Trust gaining a close understanding of the additional things that children known to the trust need. This could be access to sporting and wellbeing programmes, access to employment opportunities, support moving into independent living. Essentially Bfriends ensures it is aware of all the additional things that would support the lives of children to give them opportunities and experiences that their peers may have access to or experienced in life. The voice of children is at the heart of the charity and the Co-chair of the Charity is a care experienced young adult that is an ambassador for children in care, care leavers and children known to Birmingham Children’s Trust. Her voluntary work includes networking with many young people and adults on a regular basis ensuring that their views, feedback and experiences are at the forefront of the charity’s work and that the Co-chair and Trustees are regularly sighted on this. Bfriends has partnership working at the heart of all it does the charity alongside city partners, businesses other charities and the community all work together as one team with a joint vision that friendship is at the heart of all we do, we aspire to have friendships with each other and very importantly for our children and young adults to have at least one meaningful friendship in their life, we work together through our priorities with friendship as a golden thread. The name Bfriends chosen by young people comes from the importance of everyone having the opportunity to have a positive friendship in their life and the value friendship can bring to us all.
