Bhalo

bhalo’ Social Enterprises is a business designed to help smallholder farmers increase their production and income. It uses a network of sales agents and retail outlets to offer curated high-quality farm inputs (seeds, fertilisers, chemicals, etc.), customised farm advisory and financial services (pay-later, insurance, etc.). Since April 2019, bhalo has served farmers in Kurigram and Jhenaidah in partnership with a number of leading farm input suppliers and financial service providers. Farmers have reported up to 50% increase* in production, and farm input suppliers have witnessed 5X growth in sales. ‘bhalo’ became one of the two winners of SDG Impact Accelerator 2021, and received funding from YGAP Bangladesh, CSISA-MEA Project of USAID, Gates Foundation.
