Big Data Technologies srl (BDT) was created to help the business community (companies and managers) take advantages of the opportunities offered by adopting “Big Data Approaches”, that are made possible by the evolution in Information Technology (IT). Although incorporated in January 2014, BDT is not a traditional start-up company, since it benefits from the experience of its controlling company and has recently acquired the control of a breakthrough Big Data technology which is the result of over 10 years of development and testing. Big Data is no longer a technical term describing the availability of a very large amount of information or data. It’s a new era, that has been defined “A Second Economy”. This “very large amount of information” (the Big Data) will expand greatly, as series of technology trends accelerate and converge, and, as per the nuclear case, the "explosion" in data availability will result in a new energy that needs to be exploited. This evolution is technologically driven and it will dramatically affect all businesses, some in a disruptive way, others as a source of opportunities. IT’s role is to turn data “explosion” into useful information and knowledge and create a new “wealth” (new assets) to be exploited.
