An ellipsis. It’s what you don’t have to say. Story telling is joke telling. Know what to leave in, know what to leave out. Never explain the punchline. Let the audience join the dots. Every syllable, every pause, must help the the idea. If not it is cut from the narrative and what remains is stronger for it. What is drama but life with the dull bits cut out? An ellipsis is a signal that there is more to come. What is happening now is never as interesting as what might happen next. Create suspense, create mystery, create intrigue.
