Biolime
BioLime is the first U.S. company to commercialize Roman-inspired lime mortars and architectural finishes, bringing ancient durability and sustainability into modern construction since 2016. Lime plaster has been used for over years for its breathability, self-healing chemistry, fire and mold resistance, and ability to absorb CO₂. Unlike Portland cement, lime actively captures carbon during curing, making it one of the most sustainable and proven building materials in history. BioLime adapts this ancient science to modern substrates — including cement board, masonry, compressed earth block (CEB), and autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) — allowing architects and builders to specify lime-based systems for both restoration and new construction. In 2025, BioLime advanced lime plaster adoption by collaborating with Deltek to establish a new MasterSpec section, 092523 – Lime-Based Plastering. Initiated by founder Brian Coia, the section was officially launched in March 2025, ensuring lime plaster has a permanent place in mainstream architectural specifications. BioLime unites ancient wisdom, modern science, and sustainable innovation to build for the next thousand years.
