Biomedical Enterprises, Inc.(BME), a "C" corporation registered in Maryland, is focused on the validation and commercialization of an apparatus to treat systemic infections for which there is no known treatment available with heat and ultraviolet light (UVL). This product fulfills an unmet demand and the founder's knowledge of dialysis and experience treating patients with blood infections in intensive care units allowed identifying this solution. Previously, BME has validated an innovative design of a dialysis needle with $1.5 million funds awarded by the National Institute of Health (NIH). The performed research studies demonstrated that the new needle, the BME needle, causes less damage to white cells, a smaller release of pro-inflammatory cytokines, and less inflammation. A discovery of great clinical significance. The needle received the NIH's support through a commercialization assistance program.
