Biometrics Guru LLC provides expert consulting in biometric standards, identity systems, and systems engineering for federal agencies, integrators, and technology vendors. With more than 35 years of experience across DHS, DoD, DOJ, DOS, and NIST, we help organizations design, evaluate, and modernize mission‑critical biometric and identity capabilities. Our work spans the full lifecycle of biometric and identity systems, from defining data formats and interoperability requirements to advising on architecture, evaluating products, and supporting acquisition and proposal efforts. We bring deep expertise in ANSI/NIST‑ITL standards, FBI and DoD EBTS, IXM, ISO/IEC biometrics, and conformance testing frameworks. Biometrics Guru LLC is led by John M. Splain, CBSP/CBSE, a nationally recognized expert in biometric standards and identity systems. John has contributed to major standards efforts, including ANSI/NIST‑ITL 1‑2011 (NIST SP 500‑290), and has served in leadership roles across ASB, ASTM, and the INCITS Biometrics Technical Committee.
