Birchbarn Designs

BirchBarn Designs is a custom woodshop specializing in small batch, handcrafted wood pieces. Each piece is created in the workshop of Matt Swanson, located on the south shore of Boston in Scituate, MA. Our designs aim to marry both form and function with each piece given individual care and attention. BirchBarn Designs began to take shape in the late summer of 2013, officially launching its online store in November 2013. We started our work with the underlying premise that small batch and handcrafted shouldn't mean expensive and exclusive. We realize what a privilege it is to be makers of items that are functional, beautiful and as unique as our customers who will take them home. Matt's original interest in wood working began at a young age crafting his first cabinet, a gift for his dad, in third grade. He has been growing his wood working practice in one way or another ever since. Matt enjoys working with customers and engaging them in the design process to ensure the final product surpasses their original expectations. Wholesale and custom inquiries are always welcomed.
