Birdseed Foundation

birdSEED is an independent, volunteer-run 501(c)(3) dedicated to closing the racial wealth gap through homeownership. We provide "no strings attached" down payment assistance to first-time homebuyers from historically disadvantaged communities in DC and Philadelphia. Since 2021, we've awarded over 70 grants, helping 37 families close on their first homes. As a fully volunteer-run organization, 100% of donations go directly to homebuyers. The wealth-building potential of real estate was deliberately kept inaccessible to many through redlining and discriminatory policies. While some might say,"I didn't cause the problem," we respond:"It's our collective responsibility to undo it." Join us in planting seeds of equity, one home at a time.
