Blinded By Color Project

The Blinded By Color Project (BBCP) was born out of Mireia’s journey into textile research, with a mission to learn the artistry of global ancestral crafts. At the heart of this project is the Cocoon Dress, envisioned as both a universal ambassador and a blank canvas for collaborative collections with independent global artists, artisans. BBCP resort-wear collections are co-created with master artisans in Jaipur, custodians of traditional Bagru printing and Barmer appliqué ancestral processes, as well as one-of-a-kind hand screen prints and eco-printing creations using natural dyes in our own studios in Barcelona and Brooklyn, NY. In response to the growing need for freshwater among artisans, the community-based BBCP Rainwater Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit initiative, was established. It was launched in Kaladera Village in collaboration with BBCP board members Susan Abraham of FORRAD (Foundation for Rural Recovery and Development) and Meeta Mastani of Bindaas Unlimited, and guided by the local nonprofit community-based group and grassroots organization Manthan Sansthan, Kotri. The program began with a unanimous decision by a committee of 14 artisans, representing approximately 80 families. Since 2020, both the private land at Chaubundi Studio and the communal land in Kaladera Village have been conserving over 7.5 million liters of water annually. We believe that community-led water stewardship and local knowledge are essential for achieving #WaterEquity, reducing vulnerability to climate change, and strengthening resilience against droughts and flooding. Ten percent of our product sales, along with 100% of proceeds from our eco-print workshops and activism campaigns in NY, go toward supporting community-based water management programs. These funds are directed to conservation, education, training, and sustainable livelihood initiatives facilitated by Manthan Sansthan, Kotri.
