Block Bins

We believe compost and recycling options should be accessible and ubiquitous. Our mission is to make compost & recycling programs accessible and affordable in cities and suburbs. Our platform enables individuals to crowdfund any kind of dedicated-stream recycling program for their community, without the need for door-knocking or taxpayer funding. Block Bins allows individuals to request dedicated-stream recycling bins. Neighbors can use our platform to share the bins with their block, which reduces everyone's individual costs, and reduces clutter. When enough interest in a program has been met for a city, we develop and implement collections. We used this strategy to build a curbside compost program for Chicago, and are working to bring specialized plastic recycling service next.
