Ireland has a strong growing blockchain industry with more and more companies exploring this new and revolutionary technology. BlockW aims to provide an inclusive forum for showcasing Blockchain applications and use cases and demonstrating industry and sector relevance and the unique and defining features of the technology to all. Through BlockW's initiatives, the group strives to highlight both domestic and international experts, organisations, and projects across a variety of industries in order to demonstrate the boundless and borderless potential of Blockchain. Fostering inclusivity in the Blockchain sector across genders, ages and societal barriers is paramount to BlockW. Co-founded in 2018 in Dublin by Niamh O'Connell (Consensys) and Emma Walker (Wachsman), the founding team has expanded to include Mai Santamaria (Department of Finance), Joyce O'Connor (President Emeritus, National College of Ireland), Laura Clifford (ADAPT Centre) and Paula Kelleher (BNY Mellon).
