BLR was founded in 2009 by a group of individuals from the Swiss business community with the aim of entering into entrepreneurial investments and supporting these not only through deployment of financial resources, but also through active board and management roles. In recent years, BLR Partners and its subsidiary BLR Capital have made several successful investments, both with their own funds and with the support of carefully selected co-investors. In addition to direct investments, BLR has successfully developed and managed the value optimized wind down of two mid-market investment portfolios with a total of approximately 30 portfolio companies and a total EV in excess of CHF 200m. Our daily work is guided by the following principles: Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are the backbone of every economy. Our goal is to ensure the long-term and sustainable development of such companies. BLR seeks direct investments in SMEs and supports investors in the value-enhancing management of existing investments/portfolios. BLR invests its own funds as well as capital from carefully selected co-investors. Based on the very broad experience of our partners, we actively involve ourselves in the work of the Board of Directors. BLR has a very strong network and, complementary to its own experience, can identify the additional competencies needed to strengthen a company and bring them into the value creation process (specific industrial competencies, growth, operational excellence, etc.). BLR strives for an above-average and sustainable development of companies and the achievement of attractive returns for entrepreneurs and investors. BLR members also selectively undertake non-commercial tasks in the industrial, educational and social sectors.
