Woman represent a disproportionate number of income, career and education opportunity in Africa. When women have equal opportunity and rights to men the economy and gross national output as well as savings increase; domestic violence, petty crime and corruption decrease. At the Blue Door Foundation we believe the most effective way to reduce poverty is through the empowerment of women - through access to mobile technology, the internet and education. Those that have access to the mobile technology, the internet and education have key advantages over others in their communities. Education and knowledge help with essentials such as disease prevention and maternal care, but they also improve entrepreneurship and career opportunities. With the help of our sponsors we have plans to open schools for women in Kampala (Uganda) and Mombasa (Kenya) to aid in development of essential skills, experience and networks so that they are equipped to be the leaders of tomorrow in their cities and communities.
