We are BERMUDEZ NEVETT MEZQUITA ONTIER (BNM ONTIER), legal and tax advisors in Caracas, members of the international law firm ONTIER, with headquarters in London and offices in fourteen countries. Our practice is focused in the areas in which our knowledge and experience speak for themselves: we run a leading practice working on mergers and acquisitions of companies and business assets, and we have successfully served the engineering, procurement and construction contractors of some of the largest projects for the oil, petrochemical and power generation industries. We recurrently serve multinational and local leading companies that provide goods and services to Venezuelan costumers. Rather than multiple practice areas, we provide highly specialized legal and tax services to clients that expect top quality legal support and direct involvement of our partners. Our approach is straightforward and pragmatic. Together with our clients, we create and implement cost-efficient transactions designed to win bids, close deals, solve problems, and resolve disputes. Our firm was founded in 1992 by Carlos Nevett and Pedro Mezquita once they had completed graduate studies at Harvard University. Jose Rafael Bermudez, former professor of taxation, joined our firm as senior partner in 2006, bringing a wealth of experience from a leading law firm with an international practice. Other lawyers that began with us as associates became partners: Alejandra Cervino in 2008, Alejandro Sosa, Katherine De Bastos and Oscar H. Velutini in 2015, and Claudia Madrid Martinez in 2016. Manuel Lopez Fonseca, partner of our firm since 1998, continues with us as of counsel while practicing law at New York-based Lopez & Wardle LLP. We have ample experience in international transactions and have concluded graduate studies at recognized law schools such as Harvard University, the University of Cologne, New York University, London School of Economics, Universidad Catolica Andres Bello, and Universidad Central de Venezuela.
