Guangdong Buohua UHD was jointly established in May 2019 by the Institute of Intelligent Video Audio technology, Longgang Shenzhen, Skyworth Group, and Peng Cheng Laboratory. In July 2020, it was approved to form a provincial-level manufacturing innovation center, and in October 2022, it was approved to become a co-construction unit of the National UHD Video Innovation Center. Headquartered in Shenzhen with a registered capital of 100 million RMB, the company's current shareholders include ten leading enterprises and scientific research units in the ultra-high-definition industry chain: the Institute of Intelligent Video Audio technology, Skyworth-RGB, Skyworth Digital, Konka Group, Southern New Media, ArcVideo Tech, CVTE, Xinshi Chuangwei, Shenzhen Media Group, and Bosma Corp. In accordance with the main goals and tasks of the NUVIC, the center is building "four platforms" and "five laboratories." These include a common technology R&D platform (comprising the Ultra HD Video Front-end Acquisition and Content Production Laboratory, the Key Technology of Video and Audio Coding and Decoding Laboratory, and the Ultra HD + AI Innovative Application Technology Laboratory), a testing and verification platform (comprising the Ultra HD Video Test and Certification Laboratory and the 5G + 4K/8K Transmission Verification Laboratory), a pilot-scale incubation platform, and an industry support service platform. The NUVIC is dedicated to the research and development of key common technologies in the field of ultra-high-definition video and the transfer and dissemination of its achievements. It focuses on technology research and platform construction in areas such as audio and video coding and decoding, ultra-high-speed interfaces, ultra-high-definition video testing and verification, and innovative applications of Ultra HD + AI, to promote the industrialization of key common technologies and build an industrial ecosystem for ultra-high-definition video.
