Bonkers was first conceived in 2010 as a hobby of two Frankfurt locals. Dissatisfied with the monotony and conformity of the skateboarding retail business in their hometown, they set out to challenge the predominance of established mall brands and billion-dollar holding companies which had reinforced their position in skateboarding. Aiming at something unique, Bonkers initially started out as a small business in the attic of the two friends. Selling mostly to their peers and relying on mouth-to-mouth advertisement, Bonkers soon became an online store that catered to core skateboarders. Providing a space for independent brands that are made by skateboarders for skateboarders, Bonkers has always been dedicated to a community that has not sold out its roots in skateboarding.
