Book Bytes: Tales That Spark is a philanthropic initiative aiming to combat the illiteracy crisis in South Africa. Founded by Nongcebo Buthelezi, our Chief Fundraising Officer and 2023 Youth Ambassador for the World Literacy Foundation, we strive to make literacy accessible to every child. Our innovative digital platform provides free access to engaging children's stories, bringing positive messages to their development. We believe that literacy knows no boundaries and are dedicated to creating tales that resonate with children of all backgrounds. Illiteracy costs the South African economy R119.03 billion and has severe consequences, including poverty, unemployment, social exclusion, crime, and long-term illness. At Book Bytes, we firmly believe that access to literacy is a right, not a privilege. Therefore, we offer these enchanting stories free of charge on our user-friendly platform. All proceeds go directly to the World Literacy Foundation, empowering underprivileged children with the gift of literacy.
