Box Hill Cemetery

Box Hill Cemetery is a Victorian 'B-class' cemetery offering modern interment and commemorative support to bereaved families in the heart of Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. The 12.5 hectares (31 acres) is a sanctuary for the remains of around decedents, including several famous Australians. The cemetery’s cultural and historic values are considered of State significance and the unique 1926 Columbarium and Sidney Myer memorial are listed on the Victorian Heritage Register. Box Hill Cemetery Trust is responsible to the Government of Victoria for the perpetual care of areas ranging from the late nineteenth-century cemetery through twentieth-century monumental graves and cremation memorials, to vaults, a contemporary mausoleum and recent memorial gardens.
