Brainfartz is a company limited by guarantee, has a board of directors, is governed by its Articles of Association and is a registered charity in England and Wales. We have evolved due to a family's personal experience of adapting to living with an Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) and their frustration at the lack of appropriate adult post acute rehabilitation and recovery opportunities that did not have the 'one size fits all' attitude. The complex and long term difficulties caused by an Acquired Brain Injury have profound implications for families, carers as well as the individual with an ABI themselves. We believe strongly in the idea that every adult affected by an ABI living in the UK deserves the right to get on in life. We aim to;" Raise funds to establish, maintain and manage a rehabilitation and recovery facility for adults 17 and over living with an ABI and their families and carers. In order to;" Relieve and rehabilitate " Advance education " Promote health and wellbeing " Empower and inspire individuals to lead active, independent and fulfilling lives, enabling them to push their own boundaries to reach their full potential. We plan to build our first centre in Yorkshire, an area the directors know well, and in which there is a dearth of provision of the type envisaged. The projected timescale for the establishment of the facility is three years at an anticipated cost of £3.5million.
