Braintree Museum
Based in the former Manor Street School building since 1993, the museum conserves and celebrates the history of Braintree and its surrounding areas, focusing on the District’s industrial and cultural achievements and its many notable personalities. The museum offers a range of educational packages for schools, from Stone Age and Iron Age, to Anglo Saxons, Victorians, WWII evacuees and Natural Science focused around local science hero John Ray. The museum runs activities for childrens and families throughout the year, and puts on a number of historical and science themed event days. We offer guided tours and talks for adult groups, outreach talks and much more.
