Bridge To Publishing
Bridge to Publishing supports narrative sovereignty in regional publishing and media by engaging Indigenous youth from across Mi'kma'ki in storytelling initiatives rooted in community, culture, and tradition. We are proudly partnered with Ulnooweg Education Centre. Our pilot storytelling initiative is a free professional development program for Indigenous youth in Atlantic Canada, running from Jan - June 2024. Developed with Indigenous Elders and storytelling professionals, and supported by eight regional book publishers, the program aims to help Indigenous youth overcome barriers to careers in publishing by providing skill development and addressing ongoing eurocentrism in the industry. Stay tuned for more on our pilot program and future storytelling initiatives! We acknowledge the support of the Canada Council for the Arts and The Ulnooweg Indigenous Communities Foundation.
