Bridging That Gap is focused on supporting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and children experiencing or at risk of all forms of abuse and exploitation. We hope to enable improved opportunities by increasing young peoples social capital through sports and physical activity, promoting positive aspirations and safeguarding young people. Bridging That Gap will deliver ‘More Than Active’ a Sports and Activity Project aimed at Building Stronger Communities Through Sport & Activity and reducing health and educational inequalities. ‘‘More Than Active” is aimed at children who qualify for free school meals (FSM) whose families wouldn’t necessarily have the social and economic resources to fund sport and activity and children and young people experiencing or at risk of all forms of abuse and exploitation. “More Than Active” will offer children and young people between the opportunity to participate and engage in play, sports and activities. “More Than Active” will encourage the young people to form positive relationships with peers in a safe and nurturing environment. In order to ensure that “More Than Active” is embedded within the local community and accessible to those that attend, we will utilise local venues such as schools and community centres. We aim to create something sustainable for the young people within their local community and beyond for the long term by creating relationships and collaborating with community groups, sports, arts and other activities that the young people can access sustainably for the future Please see the go fund me page link below.
