Brown & Sterling continues the legacy of founder Lawrence F. Brown's ancestors. Larry is a descendant of college-educated freed slaves that founded their own businesses when they discovered they were not welcomed in mainstream business. Later generations of Larry’s family - most had college degrees - experienced the same treatment. Out of necessity, they also started businesses. By the time Larry graduated from college, business had been in his blood for generations. Larry realized early on that he had different ambitions. He grew up in a generation that believed the highest expression of freedom would come from the social status achieved through learned professions. Larry chose the law. Eventually, as a tax and business lawyer, Larry was named partner in a firm of about 80 attorneys. It did not take long before he realized he wasn’t satisfied. He felt trapped – his entrepreneurial spirit was calling. He left the security of the partnership to start his own firm. In January of the law corporation was formed, with its initial offices in Sammamish, Washington. In 2001, the firm moved to our present location in Fall City. Because of the shortage of commercial space, the firm, like some of our clients, initially operated out of a remodeled garage. In April of 2007, the firm, expanded and remodeled its Fall City location. Since 2007 the firm has continued to grow and change, but has consistently been recognized by the surrounding community for the quality of its services. Each year since 2006, the firm has been recognized by readers of the Snoqualmie Valley Record as the “Best Law Firm” in the Snoqualmie Valley. In 2010, the firm adopted its current name and branding (Brown & Sterling, P.S.), a culmination of changes we had seen over the last decade and as an expression of the firm’s commitment to an exciting future of providing top-notch legal services to businesses and business owners in the Pacific Northwest.
