Cabin Radio

Cabin Radio provides digital journalism and entertainment radio for the Northwest Territories from our studios in downtown Yellowknife. We are fully independent, owned and operated by five Yellowknife residents alongside a small staff and a team of volunteers. We're one of the North's must trusted and widely read online newsrooms. Our written reporting is read on average times a month by residents across the Northwest Territories. We offer journalism internships each year, support freelance journalism, and work with NWT schools to develop students' interest in reporting and telling their communities' stories. Cabin Radio goes beyond digital journalism and music radio. We are one of the only entertainment video producers in the North, creating captivating and fun video ranging from Pet Project (weekly profiles of adoptable pets in Yellowknife) to Extreme Duck Racing (sending 3,500 rubber ducks over NWT waterfalls for charity) and beyond. We foster new creative video talent, both on-camera and behind the scenes, with training on top-of-the-range equipment and on deadline-driven, quick-turnaround productions.
