Cambaha

The primary aim of Cambaha is to build trust in local Cambodian products. Growing up, and throughout her career, our founder Saloth became aware of the lack of opportunities available to Cambodian farmers. Our goal is to highlight the benefits of buying locally, encouraging consumers to keep their spending money within the community and make it possible for micro and small enterprises to generate a stable income. As a social enterprise, Cambaha is structured to support Saloths wish of tangible, sustainable development in the community. Cambaha aims to tackle some of the many challenges facing small Cambodian farmers: Lack of consumer trust in local food and drink - Most of the local markets and grocery suppliers sell products imported from Thailand and Vietnam. These products are often treated with chemicals to keep them fresh and have non enviro friendly packaging. Consumers have not yet learned to trust in the quality of locally grown produce, food and drink. Absence of sales channels for Cambodian products - Micro/small producers can’t compete with suppliers from abroad. They haven’t gained enough credibility and capacity to enter big sales channels. When choosing, consumers prefer buying imported products, which are better positioned in the market. Limited access to capacity-building - Micro/small enterprises and cooperatives don’t have access to training because they’re not registered and don’t have access to business networks. There are offerings from NGOs, but these are mostly available in the city. Cambaha services include: Providing healthy food, snacks, products sourced from local farmers and cooperatives; Training and support to local farmers & processors to help them reach a sustainable customer base.
