Cambridge Eye Trust
The Cambridge Eye Trust is a charity which was founded in 1970 by a number of Cambridge ophthalmology consultants, especially Mr Peter Watson, who had the vision to improve eye care, fund ophthalmology reseach, drive innovation and support ophthalmology education. The Trust has provided specific financial support for the first Professor of Ophthalmology at Cambridge University and continues to support academic ophthalmology in Cambridge by providing departmental grants and equipment. It also funds non-commercial ophthalmic research programmes, thereby expediting discovery of new treatments. The annual Cambridge Ophthalmological Symposium is a prestigious conference organized by the Trust to give doctors and allied health professionals from the UK and across the globe an opportunity to discuss clinical and basic science developments in the field of ophthalmology, network with and learn from those at the peak of their research or clinical field. The Cambridge Eye Trust has always, and always will, rely on pledges and charitable donations from the public in its quest to save sight.
