With CampfireFM, podcasts are becoming social, much like how Instagram has done for photos and YouTube for videos. Campfire aims to be the long-missing place where a podcast’s community can come together and engage in discussions. The iOS and Android app transforms podcasts into an interactive listening experience, allowing users to interact directly with other fans of their favorite podcasts and access exclusive bonus content – including from the podcast hosts themselves. New podcast episodes will serve as starting points for conversations, reactions, and emotions. Between episodes, a timeline emerges with supporting materials, short voice messages, polls, or community discussions. On CampfireFM, communities are meant to form around podcasts. Artificial intelligence will enable a range of features, such as automatically identifying the best podcast quotes, which can be shared with a single click on social media. At launch, some of the most popular podcasts in Germany are on board: the entertainment podcast Baywatch Berlin with Klaas Heufer-Umlauf, Jakob Lundt, and Thomas Schmitt; the football podcast Einfach mal Luppen with Toni and Felix Kroos; the news podcast Apokalypse & Filterkaffee – Presseklub with Micky Beisenherz and Markus Feldenkirchen; the business podcast OMR Podcast with Philipp Westermeyer; the history podcast Geschichten aus der Geschichte with Daniel Meßner and Richard Hemmer and the talk podcast dudes. with Niklas van Lipzig and David Martin and Der Sophie Passmann Podcast, where culture, politics, and pop culture collide. Other shows will follow in the coming weeks, including interview podcasts Hotel Matze and the news podcast Table Today. CampfireFM is not just a platform for users, but also for podcasters and advertisers: previously disconnected, passive listeners will become an active and valuable community, leaving feedback and genuine emotions.
