Cannabis For Conservation

Cannabis for Conservation (CFC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring ecosystems in landscapes with historic or current cannabis cultivation. We bring together the cannabis community and conservation partners to improve the land, water, and wildlife we all depend on. Our mission is to conserve natural resources, restore damaged ecosystems, and educate communities by working alongside cultivators and land stewards to improve the health and function of their lands into the future. We do this in a way that builds trust, honors the knowledge of landowners, and keeps solutions voluntary and collaborative. Why cannabis? Well, many cannabis farms are located on lands already impacted by past activities like logging, grazing, invasive species, poor road construction or lack of maintenance, and undersized culverts. Today’s legal cannabis cultivation is one of the most highly regulated land uses in California and can go hand-in-hand with proactive stewardship. CFC works with cultivators and other land stewards to address these historic impacts and improve the long-term health of the ecosystems.
