Canvas Institute

Leading the charge as the first Black owned and led multidisciplinary cultural space in Downtown Staten Island, Canvas seeks to increase uplifting art encounters fostering a supportive network of artists, scholars, civic leaders and the community. Working together, we aim to share inspiration, to see things differently, and provide solutions that transform possibility to reality. This work is particularly focused on bridging the gaps and unprecedented challenges faced by the underserved communities of Staten Island. Our policy expertise, coalition building and strategic experience has positioned Canvas Institute to be a trusted partner in community development initiatives and organizations.
