Software Licensing Audit Professionals: Canyon Consulting provides thought leadership, software product knowledge, licensing audit experience, and a knowledge base that is used to help clients prepare for and respond to vendor software licensing audits. In addition, we offer Software Asset Management (SAM) services. Whether it is a Pre-Audit Software Licensing Assessment or a Software Licensing Audit Defense project, our methodology is based on the same principles. Projects are broken down in to three phases: •Data Collection- discovery of a vendors licensing contracts, renewal agreements, purchasing history, server and desktop/laptop inventory, SAM tool usage if any, and where a vendors software is deployed in your environment. •Data Validation- creation of a worksheet that captures what software is deployed, where it is deployed, how many licenses of each product is installed, and a comparison chart on what your software licensing allows you to deploy. •Remediation or Settlement- gap analysis is performed, an associated financial cost is determined for any gaps, recommendations from Canyon Consulting on potential ways to remediate those costs, and a strategy to settle with the vendor if it is in fact an official audit.
