Cape Verde Regenerative

Cape Verde Regenerative is building a sustainable solution for an inclusive and integrative way of reforestation. We are currently piloting an agroforestry service model in Cape Verde building on a technology developed in Brazil: Syntropic Agriculture. This technology revolutionizes reforestation by integrating regenerative and climate-smart agricultural systems into the reforestation process. Our service model encourages a participatory and inclusive forestation process. We rent public and private lands (10-20 years lease) and develop context specific regenerative food forest concepts that we are implementing together with the local farming communities and the civil society. Our service model is market-oriented and links the producers with off-takers. Following the principles of syntropic agriculture, the food forests provide immediate income opportunities (social), encourage regenerative practices (environmental), and create a new form of participatory and market-oriented forest management system (economic). We will develop different ownership models to anchor these innovative business models for forestry after the lease has ended.
