Capitol Collegiate Academy

Capitol Collegiate Academy is a tuition-free, K-8 public charter school in South Sacramento founded on the firm belief that all students, regardless of race or socio-economic status, are entitled to a high-quality education. Capitol Collegiate believes that a cohesive and supportive student culture is the foundation for success and that with structure and academic rigor, we will ensure that students have the early foundation necessary to go on and excel in high school, in college, and in their careers. Capitol Collegiate Academy serves a critical role in the educational offerings for students in Sacramento. In 2019, just over 50% of California students were proficient in reading and less than 40% were proficient in math. Schools in South Sacramento offer a more concerning picture, with an average of 20% of students reading proficiently, and even fewer proficient in math. Capitol Collegiate’s college preparatory K-8 program addresses this inequity and provides a public school option that puts students on a long-term path from kindergarten to college. Students at Capitol Collegiate, the vast majority of whom are socioeconomically disadvantaged, are achieving in English Language Arts, Math and Science at levels significantly higher than their peers in South Sacramento.
