Capstone Comics Publishing
The Capstone Connection began as a group of artists and writers brought together under one goal – to create comics. John Mitchell, owner of Capstone Comics in Austin, and his store manager McLain McGuire first invited local artists and writers to join the group and hold frequent creator meetings after hours at the store. After a very rocky start, the group found solid leadership with McLain in 2007. Since then, the group has refined their methods and defined their purpose. The Capstone Connection became more than a group of creators looking to publish their own work; they became a publishing powerhouse that offered new artists opportunities in the industry through experience and marketing. Annually, the group publishes the Within the Capstone anthology as a means to test the mettle of new artists and writers and a vessel to display the talents of all the Connection members.
