Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra

Capuchin Krishik Seva Kendra(CKSK) is the social work organisation started in the year 1969 in Ujire, Dakshina Kannada district. Since 1969 it has initiated its effort for the development of economically poor, marginalised and the backward people. It has been working for the development of the weaker section of the society by considering various issues, programs based on the need of the people at different stages. Today the humane service of CKSK has widespread across Karnataka state. Under the banner of CKSK, it has its units of community oriented and institutional interventions in Dakshina Kannada district, Chikmagaluru district, Udupi district, Shimoga district and in Hassan district. All these interventions aim at achieving 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of UN. Under the community-oriented interventions, the organisation has promoted Self Help Groups, children clubs and youth clubs. The organisation works towards income generating programmes such as piggery, poultry, rearing of cows, mushroom cultivation, petty shops, bee keeping, coffee nursery, tailoring and so on. The organisation has sensitized community through campaigns against alcoholism, HIV/AIDS, protest against social evils, agitations for drinking water, road, basic facilities, protest against illegal brewing and sale of liquor. It has promoted Literacy programme, Voluntary service, Training on finance management and bank Linkages. It has been promoting awareness programmes on general health, HIV/AIDS, training to adolescent girls, promoting herbal medicines, hygiene and sanitation, carrier guidance programs, children sponsorship, agricultural trainings and many more. Under the institutional interventions the organisation has been serving the community through de-addiction centres in Badravathi-Shimoga Dist, Palya-Hassan Dist, and Heroor-Udupi dist, From last seven years, it is catering the needs of differently abled persons through special school in Belthangady, Dakshina Kannada dist.
