Caravel Bio is building the first limitless protein evolution platform, creating proteins that exceed nature’s bounds to make powerful catalysts and therapeutics. For decades, the bounds of protein engineering were defined by the organisms in which proteins are expressed. Caravel surpasses this limitation by enabling high-throughput evolution of cell-free, in vitro, systems. This new capability is enabled by innovations in microfluidics, cell-free protein synthesis, and bacterial spore-display. We’re using our platform to create long-lasting enzymes for carbon capture and enabling precision manufacturing of proteins with new chemistries using genetic code expansion.
