Carbide Derivative Technologies
Dry Running or Flashing failures can be reduced or eliminated in any mechanical seal or hydrodynamic bearing by simply replacing the running components with CDT-treated SiC components. The CDT treatment is NOT a coating, but rather a process that subtracts the Si from the running surface of SiC components, leaving a low-friction, self-lubricating and dimensionally stable running surface that will not delaminate. The resulting CDT surface is composed of planar graphite and nanocrystalline diamond. It has a coefficient of friction in the same range as diamond coatings, but out-performs diamond coatings due to its self-lubricating graphite. Call us for a discussion of your application and evaluation of the improvement that can be achieved with CDT-treated components.
