Cardiac On Campus
Cardiac on Campus is a student-run nonprofit at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. We were founded in 2015 by UW-Madison students (now alumni) Brittany Derynda and Jessica Miller after 20-year-old Jon Derynda passed away from sudden cardiac arrest. Our mission is to prevent sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) & sudden cardiac death, promote accessible cardiac health care, and advocate for cardiac health awareness. Our main initiatives include a 5k run/walk to fundraise, placing automatic external defibrillators (AEDs) in campus buildings, hosting free cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification classes, and providing free electrocardiogram (ECG) screenings.
