CARE established a presence here in Iraq back in 1991, we supported millions of needy Iraqis through our offices in Baghdad, Sulaymaniyah, Erbil, and Dohuk. The protracted conflicts caused the displacement of millions of people across the country and lead to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis. In 2004, CARE suspended its operations after a catastrophic event, In 2016, Under the leadership of CARE Germany, CARE re-established its operation in the Kurdish Region of Iraq, expanded and evolved in order to address the needs of the vulnerable people of Iraq. In recent years, our Health, Wash, Protection, and livelihoods projects supported hundreds of thousands of displaced populations and host communities. our programs provided life essentials in addition to the creation of positive coping mechanisms to be better prepared for the future. We are proud of creating a difference and igniting the hope for a good future. We see our future program evolve to focus on Gender Equality and justice, as well as climate justice.
